Dual Enrollment Program

Dual Enrollment 2009-2010

Dual Enrollment is an opportunity for eligible high school students to earn college credit while attending high school.  The program helps the high school student get a jump start on his or her college coursework and prepare for the academic rigors of college.  Under a true dual enrollment program, the courses are taught in the high school by high school faculty and follow the same syllabus as the college course.  The Post Secondary Enrollment Option Program (PSEOP) also provides dual credit with the high school student attending classes on the college campus.

The dual enrollment program presents a rigor and increased level of educational opportunity that is rewarding and challenging.  Students should understand that dual enrollment courses are at a college level and the amount of work necessary to achieve the learning outcomes may be much greater than in high school courses.  Dual enrollment credits become part of the student’s permanent college transcript.  It is important that the student do well in these courses to realize all the benefits of dual enrollment.  Edison courses are transferable to all state colleges and universities, and many private institutions.
