GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

 

1.       Twenty-one (21) units of credit. 

2.       Minimum requirements:

·         English -- Students must obtain 4 English credits, including 1 credit of English 9, 1 credit of English 10, one credit of English 11,

            plus one additional credit.  In addition to the 4 English credits, students are required to have ½ credit in a communications-

            based course that may come from a designated English course.

·         Social Studies3 units, including ½ credit of American Government & 1 credit of American History.  

·         Science -- 3 units, including 1 credit of biological science and 1 credit of physical science

·         Math 3 units.

·         Health -- 1/2 unit

·         Physical Education -- 1/2 unit

·         Electives7 elective units, must include at least 1 credit or 2 half-credits in Business/Technology, Fine Arts, or Foreign Language

3.       Students must also pass the requirements pertaining to the Ohio Graduation Test.

HONORS DIPLOMA FOR COLLEGE PREP STUDENTS

 

             The student who completes the high school academic curriculum shall meet at least seven of the following eight criteria:

  1. Earn four units of English;
  2. Earn at least four units of mathematics which shall include algebra I, algebra II, geometry and another higher level course or a four-year sequence of courses which contains equivalent content;
  3. Earn at least four units of science including one unit of physics and one unit of chemistry;
  4. Earn four units of social studies;
  5. Earn either three units of one foreign language or two units each of two foreign languages;
  6. Earn one unit of fine arts;
  7. Maintain an overall high school grade point average of at least 3.5 on a four-point scale up to the last grading period of the senior year; or
  8. Obtain a composite score of 27 on the American college test's ACT assessment (excluding the optional writing test) or a combined score of 1210 on the College Board's SAT verbal and mathematics sections (excluding the required writing section).
